Wildlife Initiative Trust Africa (7-min Video)

The Wildlife Initiative Trust Africa was established to strengthen conservation in the Victoria Falls area and surrounding regions of Zimbabwe by introducing a K9 unit to local anti-poaching operations. These specially trained dogs and their handlers will assist in tracking poachers, detecting wildlife products such as bushmeat or ivory, and providing a visible deterrent in high-risk areas. The K9 teams are expected to work alongside existing ground patrols, enhancing their reach and effectiveness in diverse terrains, from dense bush to open savanna.
In this 7-minute interview, Kerri O’Fee outlines the organisation’s vision, explaining how the K9 programme will be integrated into ongoing conservation efforts, the importance of community involvement in supporting anti-poaching measures, and the long-term goal to expand the initiative to other parts of Zimbabwe where wildlife is under threat.
