The Economics of Wildlife Rescue (You Can’t Save Everything) (5-minute Video)

The Phalaborwa Natural Heritage Foundation (PNHF) is based in the town of Phalaborwa on the border of the Kruger National Park in South Africa. The non-profit was started in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, and initially, it focused on assisting with snare removals from live animals.
As it grew, it became involved in helping out on numerous properties and various organizations in the region. Eventually, it signed an MOU with the SA Hunters and Game Conservation Association to expand its reach.
Today, its day-to-day operations have grown to include veterinarian work and the translocation of problem animals.
The work that PNHF does comes at a cost, and resources are always an issue; unfortunately, it is not always possible to save every animal that needs help.
